MATHEMATICS

My passion for mathematics began at a young age through participation in elementary school math competitions. However, it wasn't until middle school that this passion truly blossomed. Under the guidance of my school math teacher, Manny Norse, I started excelling in math competitions, achieving regional, state, and national distinctions in events like MATHCOUNTS and the AMCs (American Mathematics Competitions).

MATH PROFILE

During high school, I continued to nurture my love for mathematics while exploring post-Calculus math through college-level courses, guided by Dr. John Gorman. I successfully completed over 10 different college-level mathematics classes and continue to explore advanced mathematics.

In 2019, I founded the Roshen Nair Foundation, redirecting my efforts towards helping other students discover their own passion for mathematics. My goal is to inspire them and instill in them the same appreciation for the world of mathematics that I hold dear.

Competitive Mathematics

While I began participating in mathematics competitions during my elementary school years, it was during middle and high school that I delved deeper into the world of competitive math. These experiences not only honed my mathematical skills but also ignited my passion and love for the subject.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

In middle school, I delved deeper into competitive mathematics, particularly through participation in MATHCOUNTS and the AMCs (American Mathematics Competitions). Here are some of my notable achievements:

2020 Mathcounts Competition
  • Captain of the Stoller Middle School Math Team
  • Led my team to a 1st-place victory in the 2020 Oregon State Mathcounts

2020 American Mathematics Competitions 8 (AMC8):
  • Achieved 1st place in the state of Oregon
  • Earned a place in the National Distinguished Honor Roll (ranking in the 99.56th percentile nationally).
Math Kangaroo:
  • 2022 Math Kangaroo Competition: Earned the title of US National 1st Rank/Champion with a perfect score
  • 2021 Math Kangaroo Competition: Oregon State 2nd Place Winner
American Mathematics Competitions 10 & 12 (AMC 10 & 12)
  • 2022 & 2023: Two-time Qualifier for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME)
  • 2021 & 2022 Fall American Mathematics Competitions (AMC10): Passed with Distinction

Teaching

Drawing from my extensive expertise in mathematics, acquired through both competitions and advanced classroom studies, I am dedicated to fostering the mathematical abilities of younger students. I aim to assist them in excelling within the school curriculum and in various mathematics competitions.

I have received recognition from organizations such as Math Kangaroo and actively contributed by serving in roles that involve teaching at Math Kangaroo's official training classes. Additionally, I've taken on leadership responsibilities as a mathematics club leader at Jesuit High School. In this role, I've gone beyond the standard curriculum to impart knowledge on additional topics and have provided opportunities for fellow students to enhance their mathematical skills, both within the school's curriculum and in extracurricular math competitions.

Based on my expertise in mathematics (both in competitions as well as advanced mathematics in the classroom), I strive to help younger kids develop their mathematical abilities, within the school curriculum as well as in mathematics competitions.
