Scholarship funds for 2024/25 Oregon Scholastic State Championship winners from Roshen's Chess Academy

$ 1,851

The dedicated parent volunteers from Roshen's Chess Academy have played a significant role in the success of our tournaments, which aim to raise funds for the Oregon Chess Federation, Portland Chess Club, and HECSA. With approximately 100 players and 25 parent volunteers participating in each of our events, their support has been invaluable, especially for the younger players aged 6 to 10.
In recognition of the efforts of these parent volunteers, we have established a scholarship program for their children. If these young players achieve success at the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation (OSCF) or Chess For Success state championships, they will be eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship funds awarded to players from Oregon and Washington based on merit (determined by USCF tournament performance) and financial need, benefiting 124 boys and 78 girls

We wanted to share the heart behind this scholarship initiative.

The dedicated parent volunteers from Roshen's Chess Academy have played a huge role in the success of our tournaments, which help raise funds for the Oregon Chess Federation, Portland Chess Club, and HECSA. With around 100 players and 25 parent volunteers at each of our events, the support—especially for our youngest players (ages 6 to 10)—has been invaluable.

In recognition of these amazing efforts, we launched this scholarship program for the children of parent volunteers. If these young players perform well at the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation (OSCF) or Chess For Success state championships, they qualify for scholarships as a way of honoring both their achievement and their family’s contribution to the community.
